Home of Good Hope offers professional support homework classes
februari, 11. 2019
Since last year, Home of Good Hope (HoGH) also supports two homework classes that have grown into a great success. Especially children who can use an extra helping hand for a good learning result can benefit from this. For this purpose, two excellent and experienced teachers give extra lessons 6 days a week to an average of 30 children divided into two groups.
The pupils who participate in this project come from different schools in the slums of Goreangab. They are without exception poor children who all eat at the soup kitchen of Monica. Learning on an empty stomach, let alone doing your best, is of course not an option. That is why this is such a nice combination of education and that oh so necessary nutritious meal per day that HoGH can offer. We are very happy and grateful that the Olof Palme school in Windhoek provides two classrooms for this.
Miss Sybil, one of the teachers in reporting on the successes:
“Dear Maria and the board, Greetings to all of you. We wish you a prosperous 2019. We are delighted to provide you, the board and the sponsors of HOGH classes. We are overwhelmed to inform you that the children worked very hard this time. The grade7 learners have performed exceptional well. They are all promoted to grade 8. Thank you to you. The grade 5 did well too. They managed to meet the basic competencies in both subjects (MATH and ENGLISH) Thanks a million again. We would like to thank you ALL for the generosity, effort and support, financially and materially that you have bestowed to the Namibian child. You have really changed their mindset of thinking critically. I, alone don't know how to show my appreciation. Lastly, we are looking forward to strengthen our relationship for many more years to come. Yes together we can stand firm”.
Thanks to Monica Imanga who has arranged this all!
